Mark Northrup helps veterans and their families navigate the often-complex process of pursuing disability benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As a veteran himself, Mark brings both professional knowledge and personal experience to every client matter, helping veterans understand their options and pursue the benefits they earned through their service.

Mark assists veterans with disability claims, appeals, and requests for increased disability ratings. He works closely with clients to gather information, coordinate supporting documentation, and guide them through the claims process. His goal is to help veterans navigate the VA system with confidence and pursue every benefit to which they may be entitled.

Before joining the legal profession, Mark served for more than 13 years as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard, including overseas assignments and service in connection with the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill response. Having personally experienced the veterans disability claims process, he understands many of the challenges veterans face and is passionate about helping fellow veterans obtain the assistance they deserve.

Prior to focusing on veterans disability matters, Mark spent more than two decades in manufacturing leadership roles in Texas, Illinois, and West Michigan. He remains deeply committed to serving others, including as the current Mayor of Hudsonville, and has been active in numerous organizations supporting veterans, youth programs, and community service initiatives.

Clients appreciate Mark's approachable nature, commitment to service, and genuine desire to help others. Whether assisting with an initial disability claim or helping a veteran pursue an appeal, Mark is dedicated to providing practical guidance and personalized support throughout the process.

Outside the office, Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as golfing, swimming, fishing, skiing, and a variety of other outdoor activities. He believes strongly in service, leadership, and giving back to both the veteran community and West Michigan.
